Income Support

The financial circumstances of single mother-led households and the increased risk of poverty and deprivation are well known. Separation and marriage breakdowns cause and contribute to debt and financial insecurity, which occur even for mothers with adequate education and employment experience. Gender structures and barriers make the task of a single mother hard, producing economic insecurity, distress and isolation and limiting the families' potential and talents. Single mothers and poverty are entwined. SMFA will continue to seek changes, and we want the cost and the importance of care to be recognised in government policy.

SMFA understands the lack of financial assistance and that locating support takes work. Our page will update links to help access financial aid. Our commitment to gaining economic justice is front and centre of our work.
